EV & TJ's 3rd Wheel Travels

Motorcycle Travel With A Little Trailer

About Us

My wife and I live in Calgary Alberta and we love to travel around North America. We have done so by car, van, motorhome and motorcycle. All have their advantages but nothing compares to the motorcycle. Smells, sounds, temperatures, basically everything is more pronounced on a bike.

Living in western Canada we have numerous beautiful places to visit within less than an hour and we are just three hours from Montana for some of the best motorcycle roads in North America.

Like so many people almost reaching fifty and after making a career change I needed to do something different that would also include my wife in whatever that was going to be. I wanted something that would combine travel, seeking God, meeting people and warm weather.

When our kids were young we thought about buying a couple of motorcycles but elected to get a small motorhome instead. I thought maybe my wife would be interested in motorcycling and sure enough she said it sounded ok.

I started researching every aspect from Motorcycle Riding Schools to Equipment Required.

Humm what bike is small enough to learn on but big enough for two up riding, do we buy two bikes, how much do we need to spend on riding gear and how far could we ride? All good questions but where do we start?

I spent the winter months reading books like Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well by David L. Hough. A great book full of motorcycle riding information as well as a guide of riders does’ and don’ts that is really helpful for the beginner rider.

The page labeled “The Beginning” describes our new adventure in motorcycling along with motorcycle touring and travel in full detail, we hope you enjoy it.
