When we bought our first bike I thought I would need an alarm system for travelling. Lots of articles and comments stated that when parked in some areas of North America an alarm is absolutely necessary.
The best recommended I found was the Scorpio Alarm system. The Scorpio has a two-way remote and all the options you need for full protection.
The installation was really simple and the system only needed a few small adjustments with regards to the proximity sensor which will sound when someone gets to close or bumps your bike. I had it set so you could come within a foot or so before going off.
The remote would work within 500Ft insight but with steel and buildings material between it was a lot less. I see now the new remotes work up to a half a mile.
They offer a simple plug and play for many popular bikes including the Honda Goldwing 1800.
For the money a very good system.
