Changing the Goldwing Windscreen

When we bought the Red Goldwing I didn’t like how low the factory installed screen was so after visiting the Clearview Shields shop I purchased a Clearview Shield that was about 4 inches higher and quite a bit wider than the stock one. Here’s what I had to do to change it out on the 2007 Wing:IMG_1598The original Screen is low and not as wide as the Clearview so I take the time to switch them out.

IMG_1600The top horizontal bolt is the one I’m after.IMG_1599First thing is to bend the mirrors back and stuff a rag in the opening so if the bolt gets away from you it won’t end up in never ever land in the body.IMG_1603Here’s the bolt and the special washer that snugs up against the screen.IMG_1614Next I remove the nose piece simply by prying up at the front and then pulling slightly on the sides where the nuts are removed.IMG_1604Next I have to loosen the bolt holding the black plastic piece so I can get at the windscreen bolt underneathIMG_1606Here is the bolt, the top one.IMG_1609

These side screws hold the screen in place on the sliding mechanism.IMG_1610Here’s the middle plate that has two screws that hold the screen on the sliding mechanism.
